Exhibition Request

For our exhibition group zero hunger we are learning a lot about how the pandemic is affecting hunger. We noticed that many people are going hungry in our community. So to help, our group is creating a food drive. We will be collecting non-perishable food items that include canned food such as protein, vegetables and fruits the week of June 8th to the 12th. There will be an area in the ISLA lobby where you can drop food items when you drop off your student materials and clean out their desk/locker.  We will collect the food and then donate it to STEP, a local food shelf. This is the taking action portion of our exhibition project. Thank you a lot in advance for your generosity.

Sincerely,

Zero Hunger Group

Yearbook Delivery

Yearbook delivery update, 5/28/20:  As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, the delivery of yearbooks was to coincide with locker clean-out and Chromebook drop-off.  Unfortunately, we have been notified by the publisher that our books are delayed.  Due to Covid-19, the publishing facility has been restricted to operate at 50% as per the governor's mandate.  Complicating matters, the publishing facility is now reacting to positive Covid-19 employees, and as such, planned ship dates have been changed to a delayed status.  Although delivery dates are unknown, the yearbook staff will continue to monitor the shipment status. ISLA families will be informed of new information as we receive it.  Although news of the delay is not what we wanted to hear, know that the publisher is doing everything they can at the moment to work as fast as possible.  Rest assured that your books have not been forgotten and we will get them to you as soon as possible.  For further information, please contact Kristin Bilardi at ktvedt@gmail.com

ORDER YOUR BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES TODAY

Great news! We are offering a pre-packaged school supply program again this year. Supply orders include the exact colors, quantities, and brands your teachers have approved for class. The supply boxes will be shipped to ISLA and waiting for your child at Meet the Teacher night at the beginning of the school year. This program is optional and class supply lists will be available this summer on the ISLA website if you choose to do shopping yourself. Get your school supply shopping done in the comfort of your home and help raise money for the ISLA PTO at the same time! It's a win-win.

Make sure to order for your child's grade that they will be in NEXT FALL!

Drive for Navajo Nation

As you may know, the Navajo Nation has been hit particularly hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. We will be collecting items to donate so that Navajo children will have supplies over the summer.  On your way out of the building next week, you will see collection bins by the main door.  Please drop any items you'd like to donate there. Many teachers will be giving back your unused or gently used school supplies when you stop by the school.  If yours are in good shape, they'd make a great donation!

We will be collecting:

  • Backpacks that are in good shape
  • New or gently used school supplies
  • Children's clothing

If you have any questions, please contact Dana Provus at Danaprovus@gmail.com
