The Art of Origami

Learn how to make shapes and figurines out of paper using the ancient art of origami - folding paper. We will create a new shape each week, perfecting our skills and adding to our collections. LAs Lily and Xochilt will lead this class.

This workshop is based on Latin rythms such as Zumba, merengue, bachata, salsa, etc. Dancing is an aerobic form of exercise which has a lot of physical benefits. It also helps with the child's development and improves some of these relevant aspects: coordination, mood, and range of motion. In this class, we will actually use the body as an instruments of expression and communication. Students will be able to feel confident in a comfortable atmosphere. The last class will be a performance for family and friends! Our classes run from 1st through 6th grade (we will split groups depending on the age.) VAMOS A BAILAR!!!! LAs Cris and Marta will lead this class.

Learn to Play the Guitar!

Are you interested in learning how to play the guitar? Learn how to play Colombian or South American music, specifically Andean Music, on guitar in this session! In this class, students will develop musical skills and study traditional music from Colombia and South America. They will know how to mix thythms and harmonies in a way that helps create complex connections in their brain that is useful to enrich their bodies and minds. Music is another way to communicate - come learn yet another language! If you have a guitar, or can borrow one, please bring it with you each week. The last class will be a concert for parents and friends! LAs Yeison and Felipe will lead this class!

Photography 101

In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to get to know more about photography. They will learn how to capture the best angles, light, and environment. As we explore the world of expressing ourselves through the lens of digital imagery students will be able to distinguish two essential parts about the art of taking photos; first, artistry and second, technique. Together, we will plan an exhibition of our best photographs and a final project. Photos may also appear in the yearbook! If you have taken this class in the fall, new material will be covered in this session. LAs Carlos and Mónica will lead this class!

Chess Club – Twin Cities Chess Club FULL

This class begins on Thursday, January 9th and goes through March 19th. Want to amaze your friends and impress your opponents? Want to increase your IQ while having fun playing chess and compete for various prizes? Learn from Twin Cities Chess Club instructors who have years of experience. Competitive Chess tournaments are scheduled once a year and students can play for real chess trophies! All levels are welcome. We have a great instructor for this class but he is not a Spanish speaker.
