Looking for a way to help support the mission and oversight of our amazing school? ISLA needs you! We are looking for interested community members, teachers, and parents to fill several upcoming vacancies on the ISLA Board for three-year terms, beginning June 30, 2019. No previous experience necessary, but we do have a specific need for expertise in finance/accounting. The Board is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the school, implementing policies and procedures, and long-term strategic and financial planning. There are a number of different committees on which Board members can serve. Click here for descriptions of the various committees.
Aventuras will be open over winter break for families in need of care.
We will be open from 8:00 am-5:30 pm on the following dates:
The cost is $45.00 per day/student.
Students are required to bring a lunch from home and we will provide 2 snacks and day of fun activities.
Please email Aventuras at aventuras@isla-academy.org by Wednesday, December 19th if you are in need of care for any day. Families not currently enrolled in Aventuras are eligible to register for non-school day care.

Make sure that your child receives the sibling enrollment priority they are entitled to at ISLA. Submit an online student application for the sibling of a currently enrolled student by the sibling enrollment deadline of February 11, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Any student applications for a sibling received after the deadline will follow regular enrollment processes.
ISLA will have a non-uniform day on the last day of school before winter break on Friday,December 21st. Please have students follow the non-uniform dress code on our website under the Families tab and then the Handbook tab.

Want to amaze your friends and impress your opponents? Want to increase your IQ while having fun playing chess and compete for various prizes? Learn from Twin Cities Chess Club instructors who have years of experience. Competitive Chess tournaments are scheduled once a year and students can play for real chess trophies! All levels are welcome.We have a great instructor for this class but he is not Spanish speaker.

MinecraftEDU is a specialized version of Minecraft for educational environments that incorporates IB principles. These activities promote teamwork, friendship, and creativity through true edutainment.

It is scientifically proven that dancing improves your memory and cognitive functions. Why not have fun with contemporary and latin dance? In this class, students will have the possibility to work on becoming more flexible through choreographies based on contemporary techniques supported by different musical rhythms, among them latin ones. We will learn enjoy Zumba, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Rhythms.
Learn the art of hand lettering! In this beginner class we will teach lettering basics, proportions,different fonts, how to mix styles and ways to add embellishments. Come join us for a great time!

Are board games and Minecraft your thing? Then this class is for you. You will be able to play a number of different games like Catan, Carcassone, Pandemic etc. But that's not all,we will play Minecraft and explore coding at J&J (Jueves de Juegos).

In this workshop we will practice and learn relaxation techniques. We will introduce children to different disciplines like yoga, acroyoga, mindfulness, breathing exercises,stretching meditation, etc. Come join us and you will feel relaxed to begin the weekend.

NJH 6th Grade Parent registration information night is at 6:00-7:30 on Thursday,January 10. 6th Grade parents interested in registering their child at North Jr. High next year should plan on attending.
Please drop off any items you may have for LA use with Emily in the front office. Or you can send it to school with your student. We are also accepting good jackets, snow pants,mittens/gloves, etc. for future LA use so if you have winter wear that doesn't fit the above requests we will gladly take it.
