Board Update

The ISLA School Board met on October 17th, 2017 at 6:30pm. Here is what we have been working on:

  • The Board met for a follow-up meeting with Carlo Cuesta, planning and vision consultant for the next phase of strategic planning. Carlo has had the chance to work with the Board twice and a parent group one time in order to put together a summary report of where ISLA should focus strategic planning.
  • Give to the Max day is coming up! Previous to this year there have been two ways to donate to ISLA; the ISLA PTO and ISLA itself. A coordinated communication with one place to give will be communicated to parents shortly.
  • The Facilities Committee has found a parent who is able to repair the potholes in the back teacher parking lot. This will allow ISLA to save a significant portion of this repair and ensure better use of the teacher lot.
  • In August, the Board voted on removing the Early Entrance Policy for kindergartners to ISLA. This was reviewed per the September Board minutes at the October meeting.

Current ISLA School Board Members are as follows:

  • Nora Tycast (Chair), parent
  • Jaiah Kamara, parent
  • Dan Tix, parent
  • Martin Hoff, parent
  • Adriana Maldonado, teacher
  • Kris Taylor (Secretary), parent

  • Allison Olesen, teacher
  • Cori Adams, teacher
  • JJ Schlangen (Treasurer), community member

Thank You!

Thank you to the ISLA families that fed the teachers and

staff during the Fall Conferences.  All of the food was delicious.  We feel so thankful to have such giving parents.
