Board News…

The ISLA School Board met on September 19th, 2017 at 6:30pm. Here is what we have been working on:

  • A huge thank you to all of the parent volunteers who made Curriculum Night/State of the School possible last week.  Your help and enthusiasm helped ISLA fill crucial volunteer roles throughout the school.
  • New LED lights were installed throughout ISLA in order to provide more energy efficiency and cost savings throughout the building.
  • ISLA’s financials continue to be positive!
  • The Green Space Initiative has had some setbacks in terms of permitting, but ground breaking plans to be set for a date in June.
  • New playground equipment is coming in October.
  • A Parent Ideation session with Carlo Cuesta, organizational leadership coach, will be happening on October 12th. Parent involvement requests should be coming shortly!
  • The Board updated the Student Internet and Technology Use Policy to reflect current curriculum and technology language and needs.

Thank you!

Thank you to all of the parents who were able to attend Curriculum Night/State of the School. As we mentioned, ISLA has a great tradition of volunteerism. ISLA is able to be the successful school that we are because of the parents, teachers, administration and community members who are invested in making it work.

Enclosed is a link to a Google Form that we encourage all parents to fill out with a list of volunteer opportunities. Volunteering and giving at ISLA looks different for every family and hopefully there is a role that works for you.
