Late Start     

Thursday, November 17th is ISLA’s next late start. Buses and school will start 2 hours late. If you need child care for this day, register online at http://misamigosimmersion.com/reg-onoccasion.html. They need at least 24 hours to process requests for care.

No School

There will be no school on Wednesday, November 23rd due to a grading day.  There will also be no school on Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Companeros will be in session on Wednesday, November 23rd at ISLA, but they will be closed on Thursday and Friday.  To register for Wednesday click on the following link: : http://misamigosimmersion.com/reg-onoccasion.html  

Taste of the Minneapolis International Festival. The Minneapolis Parks is hosting this event this Saturday November 12 from 1pm to 4pm at the Phillips Community Center located on 2323 11th Ave. South in Minneapolis.

 The event is free and open to the public and it will feature live performances including:

  • Indigenous Roots Kalpulli Ynocenoxtli Traditional Aztec Dancers
  • Rinca na Chroi Irish Dancers
  • Somali Museum of MN
  • Yellow Horse Singers
  • Asian Media Access’ Dance Team

Cultural exhibits and demonstrations representing five geographical and cultural areas: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Native and North America.  Some of the vendors are: Gibbs Farm, Green Card Voices, James Autio’s Native American Art, MIA (Minneapolis Institute of Arts), Somali Museum of MN, and The Norway House.

 Food samples will be free and provided by: Delicias Latinas, Dilla’s Ethiopian Restaurant, Kramarczuk’s and Sioux Chef. Participants will have the opportunity to taste, buy treats, jewelry and art pieces from cultural vendors from these different areas.
