Please join us for our End of Year Celebration! There will be food trucks, music, face painting, bounce houses, dunk tank, lemonade stand, and more! This event is 100% volunteer planned and run - please consider signing up for a volunteer shift to help out.

Thank you to ChiroCenter Chiropractic for their sponsorship of the bounce house, and our very own ISLA Governance Committee for their sponsorship of the dunk tank!

2024 Maud Hart Lovelace (MHL) Award Winners

The PTO purchased several MHL books for this challenge, thank you! We are already working on getting the new 2025 set for next school year! If your student would like to start reading the new nominees this summer, they can find them at the library (list here).

The Maud Hart Lovelace Book Award is a children's read-and-vote book award. Its purpose is to encourage recreational reading among school-age children.

Nominated titles are works of fiction of recognized quality selected by independent regional reading groups.

After a year of reading, voting, we have our winners! The students of Minnesota have spoken. Here are our top voted award winners and honor titles. Interact with other readers on your favorite social media platform to join the discussion!

HEALTH OFFICE INFORMATION

If your student has medication or supplies in the Health Office, these will be sent home with them on the last day of school. If your student will not be in attendance on the last day, or you would like to make alternate plans for picking up your student's medications, please send an email to Nurse Tanya (tnelson@isla.school).

Please keep in mind that we need updated orders & current medication for the start of every school year. If your student takes medication or has an Emergency Health plan for asthma, seizures, allergies, diabetes or other health conditions; we will need new physician orders at the start of school in the fall. Summer months are a great time to see healthcare providers, get updated orders and catch up on any missing immunizations.

Immunization Reminder: All students must show proof of receiving the required immunizations before enrolling in MN public or charter schools; or submit medical or non-medical exemption paperwork. By the start of Kindergarten, all students should have received 5 DTaP, 4 Polio, 3 Hepatitis B, 2 MMR and 2 Varicella doses. If you have questions about your student’s immunization status, please contact Nurse Tanya (tnelson@isla.school).

Happy Trails

After 10 years of dedicated service, including leading ISLA through the COVID-19 pandemic, we are sad to announce that this is Nurse Tanya's final year at ISLA. She has been a trusted support for so many students' health needs and brings a sense of dedication, organization, and care that is unmatched. Please join us in celebrating Nurse Tanya by saying good-bye or sharing a thank you card.  We are exploring options for nursing services, but we know that Tanya's shoes will be huge ones to fill.
