The ISLA School Board has an immediate opening for a community member who is NOT a parent or guardian of a current ISLA student. Please share this opportunity with extended family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Nonprofit board service is a deeply meaningful way to share your talents and expertise to give back to our community, as well as helping to develop board members' leadership and governance skills.
ISLA Board service offers the chance to support the mission and work of ISLA in both the short and long term. The Board is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the school and long-term strategic and financial planning. The Board meets in the evening on the third Tuesday of each month, and Board members are also expected to participate in at least one board committee.

Spirit Week
Spirit week is coming up February 21-24. Here are the themes for the week:
- Tuesday, Feb 21: Día cómodo - Comfy Day: Come to school in your coziest gear! Pajamas, sweats, and hoodies!
- Wednesday, Feb 22: Cambio de identidad - Identity Swap: Students come dressed as one of the ISLA staff or LA's and staff/LA's dress as the students! Wacky Wednesday!
- Thursday, Feb 23: Gorro/Pelo loco - Crazy Hat/Hair Day: Come in your favorite hat or craziest hairstyle!
- Friday, Feb 24: Día bigote y barba - Fake Facial Hair Day: Draw or wear a silly mustache, beard, eyebrows or sideburns! Let's celebrate being silly risk-takers. This is also our Obsta-Jog celebration.
Lunch Ordering
The window to order lunch for March is now open until Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at midnight. The system won't open after the deadline date. Please make sure to order for the whole month of March or preferred days.
There's also an option for "only milk" to children that bring lunch from home.

Obstajog is Back
Hola ISLA community!
Our ISLA students are getting excited to take part in our annual Obstajog fundraiser, held this year at the end of ISLA Spirit week, on Friday, February 24th. If you are new to ISLA, or never got a chance to see this event in action, take a look at this video from last year. Obstajog 2022 Video Please return your Obstajog donation envelope the same day of the Obstajog. If you need another envelope, please email jgielen@isla.school for a replacement, and we will send one home next week. As is noted in the flyer, many students have had great success simply walking around their neighborhood with their parents. No donation is too small-- so please do what you can. Each donation goes toward our Annual "Building Our Future" fund.
