Skate Your Heart Out!

Join the PTO for a community skate event at the ROC at the St Louis Park Rec Center on February 13, 2022 from 3:15-5:15pm.

We are asking families to sign up for an hour time slot to allow for more families to be able to participate. Skates are available to rent but if you have your own skates, please bring them.

Additionally, families are asked to make Valentine's at home and bring to the event. The PTO will deliver them to Children's Hospitals and others that are in need of some love on behalf of the ISLA community. We will also have the option to participate in the assembly of kits to support the homeless at the event.   Hope to see you there!

March Lunch Ordering Window is Open

The lunch ordering window is open now, February 10th, 2022 until Wednesday, February 22nd, 2022!

Please make sure you get your order in for each day for the whole month of March.

We have added the option "MILK ONLY" for the kids that bring lunch from home :)

Please be informed that when you choose Quick Pick - Hot lunch or Quick pick - Vegetarian, you'll have to select this option for each day. For some reason it doesn't choose every day of the month automatically.

TWO weeks left to snag tickets at the Early Bird price!!!! March 1st, prices go up!! We are so excited for this year’s ISLA PTO Fiesta de la Primavera! Get ready for a night of fun to mingle with other families within the ISLA community while supporting the Language Ambassador program. Included in each ticket is food, dessert and a drink ticket! Cash bar and valet parking will also be available. As our event date nears, we will have more information on the current covid protocols.

Staff Tickets - FREE!

Staff, administration and language ambassadors are eligible for one free ticket to the Fiesta de la Primavera. Spouses, partners, friends or family must purchase a paid ticket. Free tickets will only be available until February 28th at 11:59 pm.

Early Bird Tickets $50

Regular priced Fiesta de la Primavera tickets are available for online purchase until Saturday, February 28th at 11:59pm.

Last Minute Tickets $60

Last minute tickets are available for online purchase between March 1st and March 19th.  Additional tickets MAY be available for purchase at the door, pending availability.

*Tickets are non refundable. Fiesta de la Primavera is a fundraising event and is the largest fundraiser we have to support our school's wonderful Language Ambassador program. In light of this, if the in-person Fiesta event must be canceled due to Covid, weather, or any other circumstance outside of the PTO's control, all ticket sales will be treated as a donation to support the mission of the ISLA PTO. Thank you for your understanding and support!

The Spirit Store is Only Open Through February 12th

The Spirit Store is now open through Saturday, February 12. Orders will be delivered to student's classroom in early March.

This will be the final opening this school year! Be sure to order a shirt for the spring concerts! Please note, due to limited inventory in some colors/sizes, the store is updated to reflect what is currently available.

Did you know that the Spirit Store is a fundraiser for the PTO? Sibling Enrollment    

To be eligible for enrollment into Kindergarten, a student must be five years old on or before September 1 of the enrollment year. ISLA gives preference for enrollment to students who:

• Meet the application deadline
• Is a sibling of a currently enrolled pupil or foster child of the pupil's parents
• Are a child of an ISLA staff member

Make sure that your child receives the sibling enrollment priority they are entitled to at ISLA.  Submit an online student application for the sibling of a currently enrolled student by the sibling enrollment deadline (4:00 pm on February 15, 2022).  Any student applications for a sibling received after the deadline will follow regular enrollment processes.

February is Dental Health Month

Normandale Dental Clinic offers very low-cost dental services and do not take insurance.  So many families (children and kids alike) suffer tremendously due to a lack of resources. Normandale is a great option for all people, those who would might not otherwise receive dental services, and those who simply want a low-cost cleaning. For more information click here.

ISLA Summer Camp is now accepting registrations for Current ISLA Families ONLY.

We are excited to announce our Summer Camps for the 2021 summer. We are currently only accepting registrations forcurrent ISLA Families until February 18th, 2021. The link for registration is not posted on the website and can only be found in the 2022-02-04 newsletter email. Pleasedo not share the link with families outside of ISLA.

Registration Policies:

1. If you currently utilize Aventuras for care, please register for camps as an Enrolled Family.
2. If you do not have an account in 1Core, please create an accout to register for Summer Camps.
3. Payment for Summer Camp is due upon registration. Accounts that are left with a balance will be dropped from camp registration after 24 hours for non payment.

Summer Camp Hours & Rates:

• 9:00am – 4:00 pm for all day camp - $330.00
• 9:00am – 12:00 pm for Kinder half day camp - $190.00
• 8:00am – 9:00 am & 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm for Before/After Care - $65.00

Cancellation Policy:

• Any cancellation before July 5th, 2021 will result in a refund of the fee per camp minus a $50 administrative fee.
• Any cancellation after July 5th, 2021 will result in no refund due to staffing and programming commitments

ISLA en vivo - Live from ISLA!

Get ready to broadcast EN VIVO! This Spanish immersion experience will give your camper aglimpse at life behind and in front of the camera. At ISLA en vivo, we will learn about recording tools and the ways to get your unique message across to an audience. Whether we’re learning the latest tik tok dance or reporting on breaking camp news, you’ll see and hear all about it through our virtual platform for families. Want to learn from the pros? This camp will also provide an opportunity to connect with real experts from the field of recording and broadcasting. ¡Luces, cámara, acción!

Week 1: July 11-15

El jardín de kinder - Kinder Garden

Do you have a new kindergartener ready to be immersed en español? El jardín de kinder will help children new to immersion adjust in a fun and relaxed environment. We will explore the animal kingdom, play games and sing songs. Each day will have a newtheme to keep the kiddos excited and intrigued. Campers will get to know somefriendly faces from ISLA who are eager to help them adapt to an immersionsetting. ¡Bienvenidos al jardín de kinder!

Week 2: July 18-22

Comuni-Dadores - Comm-Unifiers

It’s official, ISLA has new *digs.* For campers who are eager to leave their mark and make a difference in their community, Comuni-Dadores is it! Our incredible new building is full of opportunities to give back. This Spanish immersion camp will harness the power of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and put them into real action. Whether it’s planting new trees, creating innovative learning spaces or participating in meaningful service projects, each day will provide a chance to grow as a member of our camp community. Along with meeting real professionals who serve our community, we will adventure beyond ISLA to experience community service first hand. We will visit Richardson Nature Center to learn about being a Naturalist and caring for our neighbors in nature. In this camp, plan to give more than you get!

Week 3: July 25-29

Enig-mania - Puzzler-ific

Callingall puzzlers! Does your camper love a good challenge? ISLA is geared up andready to test all your problem-solving savvy, ¡todo en español! Our amazing newexploration space is equipped with 3D printers, robots and more. Think you can build your own escape room? ¡Vámonos!The educators from the Bakken Museum will visit ISLA to host an innovative workshop. There’s nothing better than that light bulb moment! Come crack the code at Enig-mania!

Weeks 1-3: Monday-Fridays July 11 - July 29

Físi-Calidad - Physicality

Are you looking for a way to keep your child active this summer? Are you hoping they can find opportunities to speak Spanish? At Físi-Calidad, we will check both these goals off your list! This sports themed camp will run full-day for all 3 summer camp weeks at ISLA’s brand new facility. Join us for any or all weeks. Our new gym boasts full court basketball courts with sky-high ceilings. Outside we have a full soccer field, Gaga Ball Pits, and outdoor basketball. This camp will involve enthusiastic ISLA alumni looking to speak Spanish and reconnect with games from their elementary school days. Join us at Físi-Calidad and let the games begin!

Young Rembrandts Early Release Class

January 27th was the last early release Young Rembrandts (different from the Wednesday classes). They are offering a new class for the remainder of the early release days for the school year. This class is from 1:15-4:15 pm on February 24, March 17, April 14 and May 5.
