Emily Smith

Administrative Assistant

¡A correr, ISLA! is coming up on October 31st!

This is a JOG A THON FUNDRAISING EVENT that students will participate in during the school day on October 31st around our ISLA parking lot track.

Awards will be given to the classes that raise the most money and also to the top lap count kids in every classroom.

Your child came home last week with an envelope to collect donations from friends and family. Included is a letter explaining more information about this event. We encourage each student to reach out to people in their community to sponsor their run. Please help us to raise money for our school and have a great time jogging our wiggles away on Halloween Day!  Be sure to return your envelopes on October 31st. If you have any questions, please reach out to Betsey Palmgren or Sarah McCabe.

Fiesta de la Primavera Auction Survey

We need your input! Please take this survey to let the Fiesta planning committee know what you’d like to see in this year’s auction.

We are looking forward to seeing some major bidding wars this year—help us make sure we have must-have stuff! In fact, you can let us know right on this form if you have items to donate or know a business who does.

Fiesta Committee Volunteers Needed

ISLA’s annual fundraising event, Fiesta de la Primavera, is fast approaching, and we are looking for some volunteers to give a few hours between now and March 21.

Business Donation Volunteers (3 volunteers)

Do you have a knack for connecting with people in the community? This opportunity is for you!

  • Responsibilities: Help identify local businesses to donate items and contact businesses for donations for the Fiesta auction. Opportunities include in-person, online entry, and/or phone call requests. You pick!
  • Timeline: October - December
  • Interested? Contact Julia Breyer (jebreyer@gmail.com or 612-987-2890)

Administrative Committee (1-2 volunteers)

Are you detail oriented and organized? We need you!

  • Responsibilities: Help the online, silent and live auction run smoothly by coordinating and executing the “behind the scenes” work (e.g., edit item descriptions, enter items in the auction system, create silent auction sheets).
  • Timeline: October - March, especially January and March
  • Interested? Contact Krista Stilson Guarin (stilsonguarin@gmail.com or 612-770-4992)

Your kids will get an extra bit of time speaking Spanish with a native speaker, and you’ll get to know these fabulous LAs a bit more!

Rides will be updated over the weekend, with new requests popping up regularly. Check this link anytime.

Lunch Program in need of Substitute Volunteers

Being an ISLA lunch substitute is a great way to help out on an ad hoc basis. The ISLA Lunch program is supported by 2 scheduled parent volunteers each day. At times, scheduled volunteers can’t make it and need a sub. That's where you can help! Sometimes dates are known in advance and sometimes it is last minute due to illness. Requests are sent out by email to the sub list as spots open. Add your name to be a sub by emailing volunteer@isla-academy.org or by adding your name to Lunch Program on the iSLA Interest Form. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d4fa4a62aa1ff2-interest

Vision and Hearing Screening

Assist with annual vision and hearing screenings for students. This occurs during the school day. Previous experience and Spanish are not required for these roles.   Thank you for considering! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d4fa4a62aa1ff2-vision1
