Field Day

Field day is around the corner! It will be held on Tuesday, May 21st and in case it rains that day, Thursday 23rd will be the alternative date.  Sr. Diaz needs volunteers to make this day run successfully. If you are able to help, please contact Kris Bilardi (ktvedt@gmail.com). There will be morning activities (for grades 1st to 6th) from 9:45 to 11:45 am and afternoon activities (all grades) from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

This will be a non-uniform day. Children should wear athletic and comfortable clothes and sneakers (no flip-flops). Also remember to pack a water bottle and sunscreen in your child's backpack.

Student Agency

La Gran Fair opened its doors for business this Thursday and Friday as ISLA fourth graders put on their entrepreneur hats, rolled up their sleeves and got to business, literally. Their current unit of inquiry is called, “Show me the money”. Student agency comes alive in this unit of inquiry as teachers take the back seat and let the students fly as they direct, drive and build a strong sense of self-efficacy. Where voice, choice, and ownership are interwoven in every step of this dynamic process.  This year’s businesses include Luces! Camara! Squish!, Naco Games, Deportes Mundiales, and Super Spa Jr. A portion of the proceeds will go to help fund next year’s Wolf Ridge trip and to Feed My Starving Children.

You are cordially invited to:

Box Tops are going digital!

As of this June, you will start to see the new digital Box Tops and with that will be a brand new app with which you will simply be able to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to ISLA’s earnings online!  Parents will be able to see the school’s earnings through the app at any time. This should serve as a great motivator as each one of us will be able to see the earning grow firsthand. We will keep you posted once the new app is available.

In the meantime….  Please continue bringing in your clipped Box Tops. All Box Tops will continue to be accepted until their expiration date.  If you happen to spot the new digital Box Top icon on packages before the new app is available, you can download the current Box Tops Bonus app, select the bonus offer and scan your receipt. Thanks parents and let’s earn extra $$ for our great school!
